Screening March 28

Please join us for a preview screening of “The Art of Love & Struggle”, hosted by CineWomen NY.

“The Art of Love & Struggle”, directed by Jessica Habie and edited by Melissa Ulto, will be screened Tuesday, March 28 at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater, East 3rd Street at Avenue A (no cover). Screening begins at 7 PM. The topic of the film is the struggle of women artists, particularly regarding the Hip Hop genre. The interviews are with:

Vista Solo – performance artist and activist

Amanda Diva – MTV2 VJ and Def Jam Poet

Rosa Clemente – co-founder of the National Hip Hop Convention. She is a New York based grassroots organizer, hip-hop activist, journalist. She co-hosts a weekly show on Pacifica station WBAI called “Where We Live.”

Nemesis – independent rap artist

Elizabeth Mendez Berry – writer for Vibe, The Village Voice, The Washington Post and many other publications.

Claudia Alick – Hip Hop playwright and Def Jam Poet

Kyana Brindle – Poet, Writer and Singer

Denise De La Cruz – Reggae Soul Artist

Toni Blackman – Hip Hop Ambassador & Rap Lyricist

Helena D. Lewis – Hip Hop Artist & Def Jam Poet

Raqiyah Mays – DJ, Writer & Executive Editor of The Ave Magazine

Smokifantastic – Narrator, Performer and Creative Mystic
