As I scuttle along, sometimes blindly, mostly instinctually, through my days, I am grateful for the intersections of teaching and learning. I received wonderful comments, emails and even phone calls from friends and strangers, thanking me for my writing and sharing their struggles with me. I thank each person that shared time with me, reading about my own battles and triumphs. I thank the readers for responding, making the connection with my words. If its an echo or a challenge, I appreciate them all. The more we all talk, question and most of all listen to each other, the more we understand the universality of the human experience.
This is hard to write. And hard not to write. Words that have been swirling and fermenting in my mind, percolating in my heart, a brilliance growing my soul. I chose silence for several months, enforced by depression and an uncertain future. Failure visited and stayed. Worry and a smokey haze deepened. The need to escape culminated in a last minute vacation to Honduras - one I couldn’t afford but could not deny myself. I was in crisis and needed to decompress away from the hard stress of New York City.
